Agricultural Commodity Processing Facility Engineering
PEHTC has designed and constructed rice, wheat, barley, and corn processing facilities. They have also designed and built corn processing plants that produce fuel ethanol and its coproducts – carbon dioxide and dry distiller grain (DDG).
Today, PEHTC is collaborating in a new venture to develop a modified corn wet milling system that produces:
- Corn germ – for edible oils & high-protein meal
- Corn protein concentrate (CPC) – for a higher protein livestock feed product that can be used for cattle, pork, & poultry
- Carbon dioxide
- Fiber – for a low-carbohydrate product that can be further purified for human consumption
Biotechnology Facility Engineering
Biotechnology
Today's biotech industry is all about imitating nature. Companies are using living systems and organisms to create new products and processes in areas such as foods, beverages, pharmaceuticals, genetics, agriculture, healthcare and energy. Laboratories and facilities are shaping the quality of human lives by using biotechnology to improve crop yields, develop new medical treatments, create low emission biofuels and invent entirely new products. In each of these cases, world class facilities designed and built with an in-depth understanding of science, industry, and process were necessary to achieve these great results.
Biotechnology Facilities
Paul Ewart Hi-Tech Company combines an understanding of biotechnological processes with a collaborative client relationship to marry unique user requirements with world class facility design and engineering. Paul Ewart Hi-Tech Company's biotechnology projects have included research & development laboratories as well as manufacturing and production facilities. Paul Ewart Hi-Tech Company infuses its extensive expertise into all phases of the project to help clients optimize efficiencies, reduce costs and increase yields.
In addition to a full suite of design/build services from planning and engineering to construction and commissioning, Paul Ewart Hi-Tech Company lends it expertise to ensure regulatory compliance, bioburden controls, clean utilities and proper technology selection.
Process Innovation
Beyond our state-of-the-art engineering capabilities, Paul Ewart Hi-Tech Company works to develop and perfect biotechnological process innovation that impacts the industry and our clients' bottom lines. Our goal is to develop processes and technologies that keep our clients ahead of their competition. One example of our innovation is a creative process that results in the efficient use of co-products.
Paul Ewart Hi-Tech Company engineered a processing system to ferment organisms under pressure in aseptic and sterile environments. After fermentation was complete, water was removed from the biomass and the remaining concentrated broth material was spray-dried. The dry biomass underwent a solvent extraction process that liberated precious oil as the end product while the spent biomass found profit as pet food. Similar operations can produce amino acids such as L-Lysine and L-Threonine, the sweetener Erythritol, and various other compounds.
