Osage Bio Energy's Fuel Ethanol Plant to Go Online in Early 2011

SUGAR LAND--November 16, 2010--Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Privately held Osage Bio Energy LLC's (Glen Allen, Virginia) fuel ethanol plant is currently wrapping up construction. The Appomattox Bio Energy plant in Hopewell, Virginia, is scheduled to go online in the first quarter of 2011.

Site work began on the plant in May 2009. The plant is nearing mechanical completion. BE&K (Birmingham, Alabama) was awarded the design-build contract for the plant, and the licensed ethanol process technology was provided by Katzen International Corporation (Cincinnati, Ohio). Detailed engineering was provided by Paul Ewart Hi-Tech Company Incorporated (Dayton, Ohio).

The largest commercial-scale plant of its kind will utilize barley-based feedstock and will process 30 million bushels of barley to produce 65 million gallons per year of ethanol. The plant will also generate 170,000 tons per year of barley meal and produce 50,000 tons per year of fuel pellets.

The company has signed a CO2-purchase agreement with Praxair Incorporated (NYSE:PX) (Danbury, Connecticut), which is building a $15 million, 450-ton-per-day CO2 plant at the site, which is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2011.

The plant is located on 55 acres at 701 South 6th Street in downtown Hopewell and is tied into Norfolk Southern's (NYSE:NSC) rail line via a rail spur. When fully operational, the plant is expected to create 55 full time jobs for Hopewell County.

Industrial Info's Ethanol Database provides a comprehensive outline of all current development activities in the emerging alternative fuels market. This database covers 177 ethanol plants in operation and 530 plants under development. It also covers 145 operational biodiesel plants and 245 biodiesel plants under development.
